‘Azumanga Daioh’

Azumanga Daioh was originally serialized in the very popular “Electric Shock Daioh” manga. The story revolves around high school girls. Each one of the main character has a colourful and attractive personality for comic fans, such as gifted 10-year-old high school girl, cool high school girl, natural high school girl, high school girl with glasses, and weird older teachers.

Based on a four panel comic, each part – at around five minutes – is rather short. Every episode is split into five parts, making a total of 130 parts over 26 episodes. Azumanga Daioh also appeared as a short online movie, known as Azumanga Web Daioh. Apparently, they were also giving out a free DVD of a short movie in the March and April edition of the Dengeki Daioh magazine.
